What is the proper way to put on eye shadow?

Is there a ';best'; method out there to apply it? For example, I bought eye shadow that has two shades of neutral/brown. Am I supposed to use both? Or am I supposed to use each on seperate days?

I was a Tom boy for the better part of my life and I'm still trying to get a grasp on this make-up stuff, hehe. Any helpful advice/tips would be appreciated! What is the proper way to put on eye shadow?
This is how I do it.

First, I dont use that little pad thing they give me. I use a brush.

I take the lighter tone and brush it all over my eye lid and a little under my eyes as well.

I then take the darker color and put it on the crease, like where the top of your eyeball is, on your eyelid. I only put the dark color there.

I saw on a show, this is how you do it to open up your eyes some more.

I will look forward to reading the replies to this question. What is the proper way to put on eye shadow?
OK, the easiest way to do it is to take the light shade and apply all over the lid and a little above the crease. You can use a brush or sponge applicator. The darker color should be used to create definition. So take the darker shade and apply on the outer 3rd of your eye, giving it the shape you like. And BLEND inward and into the crease. Then take some of the darker color to line the outer 3rd of the lower lash line, and mix the light and dark color to line the rest of the lower lash line. This brings the whole thing together. A shimmery pale beige sort of color can be used to highlight the brow bone and the inner corner of the eye. Hope this helps.
do a google search for make up techiques or search for pictures of eye make-up and copy and experiment and find what looks best on you.
Usually, when you buy eyeshadow that comes in other similiar colors, it means that if you want the whole package eyeshadow, then use it all or you can just use one color. The lightest color is for the whole lid up to your browbone. Then the medum color is to be only applied on top of your eyelid. In other words, apply in the area only above it..also known as teh crease (the hollow space between your brownbone and your eyeball). Anymore, then you can't ceate that professional look. The darkest color is to be only applied in the outer corners of the eyes. Make sure you apply foundation first before putting on eyeshadow so that it will keep its stay.
i would recommend u stay away from eye shadow. use lots of mascara %26amp; dark liquid eye liner and trim your brows often.........
Apply the lighter shadow on your eyelid, then blend the darker shade into the crease, to emphasize (or slightly exaggerate) the depth of your eyes. You may also apply some of the lighter color above the crease/ below the brow.
OOOH!! i have that too!! the two sahdes

well i take the darker brown ( i think it's on the right) and i put it over my lids

the lighter/shinier one goes under your eyebrow arch to highlight the eyeshadow =)
sweep the dark brown on your lid, from the lash line to the crease, then put the lighter color on just above that (if it's a really light color, a bit lighter than your skin tone, then sweep it under the arches of your brows and in the inner corners of your eyes (near the tear ducts) and not on the actual lid)
it depends on the brand, some eyeshadows that come together you're only supposed to use one color, but some you use 4..

sorry i didn't help much..check for directions or something, also i'm sure there's tons of websites that could give tips on that.

good luck!
You might want to pick up an eyeshadow brush. They work much better than the spongey thing that comes with the eye shadow.
k the lighter one goes on under ur eyebrow and the darker one goes on ur eyelid and hey always use a eyeshadow brush they work the best! hope i helped
As wit hall makeup it depends on how you prefer to do it. You can use both shades, using the darker one kind of as eyeliner and smudging it into your lashline then using the lighter one on your lid and as a highlight on your brow bone. use the darker one in the crease.

Again, it just depends on your personal preference, try different methods and see what you like best! :)

Have fun!
