The key to good eyeshadow application is using a brush. Usually I go with 3-4 shades, but you can use as little as two. You will want to first use a good base underneath. Then use a nice shadow fluff brush (I use MAC 213) to do your lid shadow and the area under your brows. (You can also do your entire lid if you want a more muted look). Then use a crease brush (mine is MAC 224) and do the darker crease in that window washer motion. That should give you the shading you want. How do you do good shadings of eye shadow?
First off,

get good quality shadows

(Wont smear, rub off etc)

then get a good eye shadow brush -- this

will make the difference between how

good it looks compared with how it would

look using the normal brush the eye shadow

comes with. The brush eyeshadows come

with, are for touchups ONLY.. not day-to-day

use. So think about spending 15-20$ on a

eyeshadow brush, it will make the difference.
Well, if you go to any drugstore they sell those eyeshadow palettes and some one them (i forgot the name) have about four different shades of a color and it tells you were to put it (brow bone, outer corner, lid, crease) and they come in all different shades..
